What do we do?

At Embrace Counseling Center, our dedicated team of therapists brings a wealth of experience from diverse mental health, education, and social services backgrounds. Drawing on our collective expertise—ranging from trauma-informed care to cognitive-behavioral therapy—we’re committed to creating a safe, supportive space where individuals, couples, and families can overcome challenges and discover lasting growth. We look forward to walking alongside you and your family on your journey toward healing and resilience.

  • At Embrace Counseling, we believe healing begins with feeling seen, heard, and supported. Whether you're navigating life transitions, managing anxiety, or seeking deeper self-understanding, we provide a warm, judgment-free space where you can truly show up as you are. Through both in-person and telehealth sessions, we meet you with compassion, helping you embrace your story and move toward growth, clarity, and emotional well-being.

  • In therapy, you’re invited to gently hold your emotions and sensations—without judgment, without rushing to fix. With the steady presence of your therapist, you can begin to notice what arises in your body and mind, creating space to explore and understand your experience. This holding is not about carrying it alone, but about allowing it to be witnessed and supported, so healing can unfold with care and compassion.

  • In the supportive space of therapy, you're not only invited to hold your emotions—you’re also encouraged to grow through them. With your therapist’s guidance, what once felt heavy or overwhelming becomes an opportunity for insight, resilience, and transformation. By exploring your inner world with curiosity and compassion, you begin to cultivate deeper self-awareness, emotional strength, and the capacity to move forward with intention and confidence.

Living with Pain

Healing from the Inside Out: How Somatic Experiencing Can Help with Chronic Pain

Chronic pain doesn’t just live in the body—it impacts every part of our life, from our emotions to our relationships, to how we feel about ourselves. And while medical treatments can offer physical relief, they don’t always address the deeper layers of pain that are tied to the nervous system. This is where Somatic Experiencing® (SE) can offer powerful support.

Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented therapeutic approach developed by Dr. Peter Levine, designed to gently release the stored tension, trauma, and dysregulation that can contribute to chronic pain. Instead of focusing solely on the pain itself, SE explores the body’s felt experience—sensations, movement, breath, and emotional patterns that have been held over time.

Chronic pain often has roots in unresolved stress or trauma. Our bodies are wired to protect us, but when the nervous system gets stuck in a state of fight, flight, or freeze, it can lead to persistent tension and inflammation. Somatic Experiencing helps by slowing things down and creating a sense of safety in the body. Through this process, clients begin to notice subtle shifts: a tight muscle that softens, a breath that deepens, a moment of rest that wasn’t possible before.

Sessions may include guided awareness, movement, breathwork, and gentle tracking of sensations. It’s not about rehashing past events—rather, it’s about tuning into your body’s signals and supporting it in completing stress responses that were interrupted or suppressed.

Over time, many people report not only a decrease in physical pain, but also increased resilience, emotional clarity, and a renewed connection to their body.

If you’ve been living with chronic pain and are looking for a new path forward, Somatic Experiencing may be a gentle and effective way to support your healing—from the inside out. Read more
